Elijah W. Hummel, of Groton, was found seriously wounded near 33 Fort Hill Road, between Depot Road and South Road, authorities said.

Paramedics rushed him to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The initial investigation revealed that Hummel had been riding a 2024 Kawasaki ZX-400 westbound on Fort Hill Road at a high rate of speed, police said. He reportedly lost control of the bike, crossing into the eastbound lane and colliding with a parked, unoccupied Jeep Cherokee in front of Midway Pizza.

Fort Hill Road was temporarily shut down between Depot Road and South Road as police cleaned, cleared, and investigated the scene.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Groton Police urge anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to officers at 860-441-6712.
